Asha Parekh was born on 2 October 1942. She is considered as one of the top actresses in Hindi cinema. She is also director and producer. She began her career as a child artist in Bimal Roys Maa(1952). She made debut as the lead in Dil Deke Dekho(1959)opposite Shammi Kapoor. She subsequently went on to star in jab Pyar Kisi Se Hota Hai(1961), Teesri Manzil(1966), Caravan(1971). She shed her glamour avatar for films Do Badan(1966), Main Tulsi Tere Aangan Ki(1978), Kati Patang(1970) latter gave her Filmfare Award. She acted in super hit Gujrati film Akhand Saubhagyavati(1963). She switched to the direction and producing with Jyoti, Kora Kagaz, Dal Mein Kaala, etc.
